“The details of the chapel are something I always imagined since I was a little girl,” the bride said during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine. “It matched everything I ever dreamed of.”

Although The White Magnolia is a highly sought out venue, the newlyweds ensured their wedding was still unique to them. According to their wedding planner, Mitchell’s father-in-law handmade a wooden cross that was on display at the ceremony.

“The cross was handmade by the bride’s father specifically for the ceremony to ensure that their three living and one late son were included, with each point on the cross representing a child,” the planner explained.

The event, which LeJeune described as a “Southern romantic vibe,” hosted over 200 guests, all of whom had the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail hour with charcuterie and live music. However, the couple made sure to pay tribute to the loved ones who were unable to be there on a special day at their reception memorial table.

Staying authentic to Southern tradition, the Mitchell-LeJeune wedding also included a money dance, where guests and participants offer up money to get in a dance with the couple.

However, the excitement did not halt at the actual ceremony or reception. Mitchell and his wife made sure to look their best on the big day. The athlete was seen sporting a custom-made Men’s Wearhouse navy suit, while LeJeune opted for a gorgeous white gown with custom-designed jewelry made by local jeweler Melancon’s Abbeville. During the reception, the pair even made the decision to wear matching Nike dunks while on the dance floor!

Needless to say, the romantic occasion was surely one to remember. But, what seemed to be most important for both Mitchell and LeJeune was being recognized as being husband and wife. Or, as the couple would put it, having “two roads finally [merge] into one.”

“We have both grown and matured into adults together from high school sweethearts to where we are now. We have gone through so much and have become the best versions of ourselves together,” they said. “So to officially become one, which is how it has felt for so long, is beautiful.”
