Aaron Lowe, Utes Sophomore and Friend of the Late Ty Jordan, Killed in Shooting at House Party

An early morning shooting at a house party at the University of Utah left one sophomore football player dead. According to ESPN, Aaron Lowe was fatally shot in Salt Lake City.

Lowe’s passing comes less than a year after his teammate and friend, Ty Jordan was also fatally shot during an accidental shooting. Lowe was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second woman was also shot. As ESPN reports, she was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. As of September 26, no arrest in connection with the shooting has been made.

However, as police reported, the first 911 call in connection to the fatal house party came in at 10:30 p.m. complaining of noise. The second call came in at 12:30 a.m. to report a fight involving a weapon, according to ESPN.

Utah Remembers Aaron Lowe:

In a statement issued by Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham, he said, “We are devastated to hear about the passing of Aaron Lowe. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron’s family and friends, along with the other individual who was harmed in this tragic incident. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother, and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him. He will be deeply missed.”

Utah athletic director Mark Harlan also issued a statement, calling Lowe a “terrific young man, a leader on our football team, and a rock of resiliency and courage.”

“We have been in communication with Aaron’s family and we are providing support to them, as well as to the student-athletes, coaches, and staff in all of our athletics programs, and our focus will remain on them.”

As previously mentioned, Lowe and Ty Jordan were great friends and even high school teammates as well. As ESPN reported, Lowe was even voted the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship last month.

Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown said they are working hard to find the person or persons responsible for the shooting. “This talented young man touched the lives of so many here in Salt Lake City and in Texas.

“The Salt Lake City Police Department grieves with and offers our condolences to the Lowe family and the University of Utah community. Our condolences also extend to the other person injured in this shooting. I hope for their quick recovery.”
