Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints was indicted alongside 3 other NFL players for allegedly assaulting a man in a Las Vegas nightclub in February 2022.

Following the incident, Darnell Green, the victim, went to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and discussed what allegedly occurred that February night. Greene filed against Kamara in October, and the evidence was then taken to a grand jury. During the trial, the victim openly testified against the running back and the other three men involved in the assault.

“Once the elevator came down, I went to step on the elevator, and a guy put his hands on my, on my chest like to tell me, like push me back and tell me I can’t get on the elevator,” Greene said, explaining what started the fight.

“And I, um, you know, I go there, it’s not my first time there, I’ve been there a few times and everybody use [sic] the same elevator. So, when he pushed me I pushed his hands down off of my chest and then he pushed me real hard and then somebody hit me.”

A grand jury indicted the men on charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. Although a surveillance video has emerged from the supposed incident, Drew Findling, David Z. Chesnoff, and Richard A. Schonfeld, lawyers to the Saints player, announced their client tends to fight the claims of assault.

The legal team says Alvin Kamara intends to ‘fight the allegations’ despite his indictment

“The State has avoided a contested preliminary hearing by indicting Mr. Kamara. He intends to vigorously fight the allegations at trial as he was defending himself and others at the time of the incident,” the attorneys issued in a statement.

Regardless if Kamara is found guilty or not, he will likely face a six-game suspension as a violation of the NFL personal conduct policy. The type of conduct that faces suspension is outlined by the league as “illegal, violent, dangerous, or irresponsible puts innocent victims at risk, damages the reputation of others in the game, and undercuts public respect and support for the NFL.”

Although no discipline has been placed on Kamara by the NFL, fans can expect to see a punishment once the verdict is announced. Additionally, the New Orleans Saints will likely see an extended absence from their running back in the fall.
