Brown tweeted Monday, “Is it time to walk away. I’ve done everything in the game?!!” He followed this up tweeting, “At this point, the risk is great than the reward thank you, everyone, who has been part of this journey. I sincerely thank you for everything! Life goes on 84 [jersey number]!”

Just 7 minutes later, Brown tweeted, “I came, I saw, I conquered. Mission complete. Call God.” These three tweets made it clear that Antonio Brown planned on retiring.

However on Wednesday, just two days after teasing his retirement, Brown angrily addressed the NFL, writing, “The fact that you refuse to provide a deadline and the reason for the fact you won’t resolve your investigations is completely unacceptable. I demand you provide me clarity on this situation immediately if you really care about my wellbeing.” Brown added, “My legal team continues to ask and you provide no answers. How is it that the league can just drag its feet on any investigation it chooses on players and we just have to sit there in limbo?”

All of this follows two sexual assault allegations against Brown, one of which the league remains investigating, felony burglary of a vehicle, and countless publicity stunts that hurt the organization he was on.

Despite Brown’s talent, his questionable mental health and destructive actions will most likely keep him sidelined for the rest of his life even if he never officially retires.
