Ben Roethlisberger, 40, Shockingly Says Tom Brady Isn’t the Same Quarterback He Used to Know…

Following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger said that legendary quarterback Tom Brady “looked like a different Tom” after the loss.

Watching from the comfort of his own home, the former Steelers quarterback dissected footage from last Sunday’s game and believes that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hall of Famer wasn’t the same player the world knows and loves.

“To me, this is just my opinion — Tom is the greatest, the Super Bowl rings show it,” Roethlisberger said on his podcast Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger. “[But] it looked like he didn’t want to be out there. Maybe it was the pressure and he was getting hit and whatever was going on.”

The retired NFL player has a point – this was by no means a game for Brady’s highlight career. He completed less than 50% of his throws in the first half and hit only 60% of his passes during the game, leading to a 20-18 loss. Furthermore, his frustrations became clear when he was visibly angry at his offensive line.

Brady was spotted discussing with his offensive players during the game, to which he seemed angry and heated. However, in a post-game interview, he shared he was simply trying to hype his fellow athletes up. “That’s what my job is [as quarterback] — to try and get us going and try to rally us and there’s a lot of ways to do it,” he explained.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion also discussed the loss on his own podcast, noting that he hopes to learn from the loss. “I think there’s a lot of soul searching,” Brady commented, speaking on behalf of the Bucs. “You’ve got to make the right improvements, improve the areas that allow you to win, and hopefully, learn from the losses.”

The sentiments held by the Hall of Famer seem to reign true for Roethlisberger as well. The ex-Steelers player shared that he understands where Brady is coming from and that leading a team surely comes with frustrations. “When a defense gets after you, sometimes, your anger and your disgust for things happen because the other team is affecting you,” he relayed.

However, Roethlisberger wasn’t convinced that Brady was the typical Brady the world is used to. “There’s no way he’s enjoying this,” Roethlisberger recalled. “No way. … It just didn’t look fun for him.”
