The Best Football Memes This Offseason

If you’re like most NFL fans and love some good football memes, then this offseason has been one for the books. In what has been dubbed the ‘most wild offseason of all-time,’ teams are going to look a lot different when they suit up for this year’s training camp and beyond.

We’ve seen some massive signings in free agency, some big-time trades with some superstar talents, some retirements, some un-retirements, some legal troubles – we’ve really seen it all. And what’s most exciting is we haven’t even seen the end of it. There’s still so much more to go!

We’ve still got the NFL Draft, training camp, and preseason before we make our way to the regular season. The football memes are going to continue rolling in and they’re likely to never stop. So, gear up for more laughs, smiles, and giggles because we all deserve a little fun!

25. I Thought This Was My Chance

The Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love with the 26th overall draft pick in 2020. There was a lot of talk about Rodgers possibly leaving town last offseason, at which point Love would likely take over. That never happened. The same talk occurred this offseason and many thought Love might finally take over. Then Aaron Rodgers signed a massive contract to stay with the team.

24. We Lost Who?!

Speaking of the Green Bay Packers, they made a blockbuster trade just one day after the trading period began. On March 17th, they sent superstar wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for the No. 22 and No. 53 picks in this year’s draft. You can likely imagine the face Aaron Rodgers was making when he found out he just lost his No. 1 receiver.

23. Why? Why? Why?

On February 1st, Tom Brady sent the NFL community into a whirlwind when he announced his retirement from the league. Coaches around the league rejoiced because they wouldn’t have to face him anymore and Buffalo Bills’ fans got something they’ve wanted for the past 22 years. On March 13th, Brady sent the NFL community into yet another whirlwind when he un-retired.

22. Does He Belong?

When the Cleveland Browns traded for Deshaun Watson, it meant he was coming to a division that already had Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson, two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. And then there’s the Pittsburgh Steelers, who said goodbye to Ben Roethlisberger this offseason and welcome in, that’s right, Mitchell Trubisky. Yeah, he’ll fit right in, I’m sure.

21. Did You Hear About the Cowboys’ Signing?

The number of signings and trades that have been made this offseason has been remarkable. It seems like every team in the league has gotten better, which will definitely bode well for what the 2022-23 season has in store. Of course, there is the Dallas Cowboys, who have been quiet, to say the least. It’s almost like they enjoy either missing the playoffs or losing in the first round.

20. Who Let Russell Cook?

The Denver Broncos were one of the teams that went from afterthought to contender overnight when they traded for potential future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson. Unfortunately, the Broncos’ Mile High Stadium caught on fire just one week after the trade was announced. They knew they shouldn’t have let Wilson cook, but they let him do it anyway. What a shame.

19. Tom Brady’s Children Want Daddy Time

When Tom Brady retired on February 1st, he noted that a large reason why was so he can spend more time with his children. The football season is a grueling 18 weeks, not counting the playoffs (which Brady basically lives in), meaning there’s not a lot of time for family. Not even two months after retiring, apparently time with his kids was too much to handle for the QB.

18. No, Big Ben, We’re Fine

Speaking of old quarterbacks coming back to play another year, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pittsburgh Steelers sent a text message or voicemail to Ben Roethlisberger letting him know they’re not interested in his return. Even if he was thinking of coming back, I think the Steelers are fine with what they have – even though what they have is Mitchell Trubisky

17. That Doesn’t Make Much Sense

The NFL has long been criticized for its inconsistency when handing out suspensions. In fact, it came to light once again this offseason when they suspended Calvin Ridley for at least the entire 2022-23 season for betting on games last year. This is a league that suspended Ray Rice two games and Kareem Hunt eight games for beating up women – because that makes sense.

16. Bye, Bye Matt Ryan!

One of the other huge blockbuster trades this offseason was the Atlanta Falcons trading longtime quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts for a third round draft pick. Like most teams do, the Falcons posted a ‘thank you’ tribute video to Ryan for all of his years in Atlanta – which totaled 14 years. That video wasn’t even as long as their tribute to Drew Brees when he retired – Brees never played in Atlanta.

15. That’s a Nasty Pass Rush

When Jimmy Butler led his Miami Heat to the NBA Finals in 2020, he was asked to carry the load and it led to this moment pictured in the meme. He was visibly exhausted – spent. Well, that’s exactly how opposing quarterbacks are going to feel after four quarters (60 minutes) of running away from a pass rush that includes Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa of the LA Chargers.

14. Deshaun Gets What He’s Destined For

For the past 12 months, the world has been waiting for the decisions on the future of Deshaun Watson. He has had 22 women accuse him of sexual misconduct and while he hasn’t been charged with anything, many people believe he should be sent to jail. That’s up to the courts to decide, but it appears the NFL will have him wearing orange this season with the Browns!

13. Time for Baker to Pack Up

Speaking of Deshaun Watson, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns on March 18th for three first round draft picks, a third round, and a fourth round draft pick. Not included in that trade was Baker Mayfield and while the Browns might try to keep him under contract, we all know the trade meant that Mayfield’s time in Cleveland has come to an end. It’s time to pack up!

12. What Happened to Alvin Kamara?

After the Pro Bowl just a month and a half ago, Alvin Kamara was arrested for an incident that happened the night before. Kamara, along with Chiefs’ cornerback Chris Lammons and two other people, are facing felony charges of battery causing substantial bodily harm and conspiracy to commit battery. The hearing for the assault case has been postponed until April

11. Patrick Without Tyreek Equals…

Just one week ago, the Kansas City Chiefs added their name to the list of blockbuster trades this offseason when they traded star receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. In return, the Chiefs got a first, second, and fourth round draft pick in the 2022 draft, and a fourth and sixth round draft pick in next year’s draft. This came after the Chiefs signed Juju Smith-Schuster.

10. Tua With Tyreek Equals…

Speaking of Tyreek Hill, he’s going to a much different situation in Miami. Tua Tagovailoa is nowhere near the talented quarterback that Patrick Mahomes is and the Dolphins are nowhere near the team that Kansas City is. He’ll likely have a good career with Miami, but it won’t be the same – especially if he can’t help Tua take that next big step in his professional career.

9. Well, That’s Enough of That

When Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two seasons ago, New England Patriots’ fans all around the world silently started to follow the Bucs – they simply couldn’t say goodbye to Brady. On February 1st when Brady retired, those same fans quickly stopped caring about the Buccaneers since they had no reason to. Of course, that all came back when he unretired.

8. Matt Ryan Smiling Once Again

Matt Ryan is off to the Indianapolis Colts and he can’t be happier, as seen in these photos of his initial moments with the team. In fact, some people couldn’t help but notice that this is the most Ryan has smiled since being up 25 points in Super Bowl LI. As we all know, the Patriots would erase that 25 point lead and win the Super Bowl. Ryan and the Falcons were never the same.

7. Nobody Wants Me?

There has been a lot of player movement this offseason and quarterbacks have been at the forefront of everything – along with their wide receiver counterparts. Lost among the midst is Jimmy Garoppolo, who missed an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl this past season. His future in San Francisco is uncertain, but it’s clear that not many teams are interested in him.

6. The AFC Is Completely Stacked

Speaking of quarterback movement, the 2022 NFL offseason has made the AFC the conference to beat. Some of the QBs that now make up the AFC include Josh Allen, Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa, Zach Wilson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Ryan Tannehill, Matt Ryan, Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson

5. Keep That Football Out My F*N Endzone!

Will Smith put social media into an uproar when he slapped Chris Rock in the mouth during the Academy Awards ceremony. The moment it happened, memes started pouring in and we were here for it. In fact, we were a little surprised to see some football memes created as a result. This was easily the best one as we look back to the 25-point lead the Falcons gave up.

4. Like a Good Neighbor…

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. Well, apparently State Farm wasn’t there for Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes this offseason because both quarterbacks lost their No. 1 wide receiver to a new team – Davante Adams to the Raiders and Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins. The Chiefs have done a good job beefing up their receiving core, but the Packers haven’t yet.

3. Welcome to Las Vegas

Speaking of Davante Adams, he signed a massive contract after being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, which was a large reason why the Packers traded him – they couldn’t pay him. The deal was worth $141.25 million over five years, averaging $28.25 million per year. Considering how many Raiders’ players were convicted of felonies last year, let’s hope Adams stays clear.

2. We All Know the Feeling

Alright, we have one more Will Smith meme for you. This one utilizes that face he was giving Chris Rock after he slapped him. Smith sat back in his seat and continued to scream at Rock. It’s that same look we all get on our face as we watch our favorite team stink it up in Week 1 after several months of telling ourselves ‘this is the year we’re going to get over that hump.’

1. We Miss Sunday Football

During the football season, Sundays hit different. They’re always there to greet us with all-day football after a long week of work, drama, and exhaustion. It’s our day to kick back, crack open a cold one, and cheer on our favorite teams. While that’s often met with disappointment as our team loses, that’s just the nature of being a fan. At the end of the day, it’s just a game to us!

We Can’t Wait for More Football Memes!

Man, those are some phenomenal football memes! It gets you excited for what’s to come during the 2022-23 regular season. Following a Super Bowl LVI that saw the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in the closing minutes, who knows what 2023 has in store for us.

What we do know is that offseason workouts are set to begin on April 4th for teams with a new head coach and April 18 for those with returning coaches. The NFL Draft will take place between April 28th and 30th. OTAs and training camp will follow in the coming months prior to preseason.

NFL memes are an excellent way for football fans — even rival fans — to bond with one another over some of the NFL’s most shocking, hilarious, unexpected, unbelievable, and outlandish headlines. You can’t help but let out a strong giggle whenever you see NFL memes online.

With that said, memes run deep. Since anyone can make one in a matter of seconds, NFL memes are being created constantly every single day. In fact, you can make one on your phone right now if you wanted to, or if you had a good idea for one. After all, it only takes one idea.

While NFL memes have become such a large part of our day-to-day banter, it’s easy to take them for granted due to how many we come across each day. Don’t worry, we’re going to highlight 25 of our favorite NFL memes that describe the 2021-22 NFL season perfectly.

25. East Coast vs. West Coast Vibes

Anyone who lives on the West Coast understands the beauty of having games start three hours earlier. That means afternoon games start at 10:00AM, evening games start at 1:00PM, and the night games start a little after 5:00PM. If it goes into overtime, you’re not going to be up all night.

24. Rodgers vs. Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers had an interesting offseason and almost didn’t play for the Packers this season. When his team lost to the New Orleans Saints 38-3 to open the season 0-1, it was only a matter of time before the NFL memes started buzzing. Just look at Aaron Rodgers’ face in this photo!

23. The Saints on Thanksgiving Day

The New Orleans Saints played the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving night and let’s just say things didn’t quite go their way. They lost the game 31-6 and would’ve been shutout if it weren’t for a fourth quarter touchdown by New Orleans. It’s safe to say the Saints got the turkey treatment.

22. Bears vs. Lions on Thanksgiving Day

Speaking of Thanksgiving football, the first game we got to witness on November 25th was a bout between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. If it was an interesting and exciting game you were hoping for, then you were more disappointed than when Mom forgot to heat the gravy.

21. A.J. Green Runs the Wrong Route

Down 24-21 with three minutes left, the Arizona Cardinals drove the entire length of the field and had a chance to score an easy touchdown against Green Bay with 15 seconds left, but A.J. Green ran the wrong route and the ball was intercepted in the end zone. The Packers won.

20. Dan Campbell & the Detroit Curse

The Detroit Lions have yet to win a game during the 2021-22 season and are currently 0-10-1 through 12 weeks. We all remember how pumped Dan Campbell was to become their new head coach, but things aren’t looking so bright for him and his team. Hopefully they can win one soon!

19. Detroit Goes at Their Own Pace

Speaking of the Detroit Lions, why not bring Patrick and his pet rock into the picture. At least he’s more accepting of the Lions’ lowly ways than most Detroit fans are. But hey, they have to win a game eventually — even if it doesn’t come this year! Patience is the true key here.

18. Mahomes’ Small Slump

This meme is more mind boggling than funny, but it’s also funny to think just how rare an Aaron Rodgers’ interception is — especially when you compare him to some other players in this league. Aaron Rodgers has played 208 career games and has only thrown 93 interceptions.

17. Only Time Will Tell

It’s unfortunate what happened to Henry Ruggs III and the victims of the car crash, but this meme was coming sooner or later. It’s crazy what a couple of years can do to someone. On one side, Devonta Smith is ballin’ out, but on the other you have a player facing a tough sentence.

16. Poor Tua, He Didn’t Ask for This

Tua Tagovailoa just wants to help his team grow and continue to develop in the NFL, but the Dolphins just can’t seem to commit to him — even when they say they are. After drafting him fifth overall in 2020, there’s still rumors that Miami might make a move for Deshaun Watson.

15. Antonio Brown’s Vaccination Card

When the news hit that Antonio Brown faked his vaccination card, the entire NFL community knew it was a long time coming for the troubled wide receiver. It’s a shame he keeps finding himself in these situations, but at a certain point you can’t help but laugh and move on.

14. Denver Broncos’ Landslide

The Denver Broncos started their season 3-0 and seemed to be the surprise no one expected. Then Week 4 hit and they went on a four-game losing streak — which is what everyone expected. While they’ve won three of their four games since, who knows how long that will last.

13. Bring Out the White Tables

The Buffalo Bills’ fanbase, better known as ‘BillsMafia,’ is known for doing crazy things and their love for jumping on white tables is no different. When the Bills are winning, table sales increase and they soon find themselves in the trash after they’ve fulfilled their duty — broken in all glory.

12. You Can’t Win Them All in November

For some of us, we celebrate ‘No Shave November.’ For some NFL teams, they practice ‘No Win November.’ For the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Seattle Seahawks, at least they can say they won something because nobody lost more in November.

11. The Goff-Stafford Trade Summary

This offseason, the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams shocked the entire NFL world when they swapped quarterbacks, sending Jared Goff to the Lions and Matthew Stafford to the Rams. As you can see, the internet couldn’t help but make fun of how ridiculous the swap really was.

10. Rookie Quarterbacks in 2021

Let’s be honest, know one thought it was going to be this way before the season started. All the hype was surrounding Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance, but it’s Mac Jones that’s emerging as the next star quarterback. The Pats always get the good stuff.

9. Changes We Need to See Immediately

Any true NFL fan understands that there are several changes we all want to see made immediately and these hit it right on the nose. I’m definitely here for more taunting, less ties, more celebrations, and everything else on that list. Come on, let’s make it happen, NFL.

8. Aaron Rodgers Receives Medical Advice

There are countless memes out there regarding Aaron Rodgers this season, but none are more funny than the ones targeting his medical advice. And anyone who knows the doctor in this meme understands just how perfect this meme is. Be careful who you get your advice from!

7. The Raiders’ Dumpster Fire of a Season

The Las Vegas Raiders have had one crazy season thus far and it only seems to be getting worse. From the Henry Ruggs III situation to the sudden fall of Jon Gruden, it seems like the Raiders can’t catch a break right now. Hey, at least they have Derek Carr, am I right?

6. Impractical Cousins

Kirk Cousins has done a lot of incredible things throughout his career, but he’s also known for a lot of boneheaded plays. This was one of his boneheaded plays where he lined up behind the guard instead of center. He quickly realizes his mistake, but not before we all caught a laugh.

5. Jon Gruden Wins Offensive COY

Speaking of Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders, a lot is being said about Ja’Marr Chase for Offensive Rookie of the Year, but not enough is being said about Gruden for Offensive Coach of the Year. No one’s more deserving of the award, especially with his emails and messages.

4. Falcons Avoid Repeating the Past

The Atlanta Falcons are famous for blowing a 28-point lead in the Super Bowl to the Patriots in 2017. When they met on November 18, 2021, the Falcons decided to follow a new strategy — if we aren’t leading, we can’t blow it. That’s exactly what happened — in fact, Atlanta lost 25-0.

3. Brady vs. Belichick Showdown

There was a lot of media attention surrounding Tom Brady’s return to Gillette Stadium earlier this year. Anyone who has seen the movie Step Brothers is sure to get a laugh out of this meme. It describes the situation perfectly as Brady and Bill Belicheck butted heads once again.

2. OBJ & His Father Always Plottin’

Odell Beckham Jr. has made a career out of making big plays, then complaining about not getting the ball enough, then jumping ship to a different team. He did that again in Cleveland and wound up with the Rams. To be honest, he might’ve shot himself in the foot with that one.

1. Aaron Rodgers’ Shocked Face

Perhaps the biggest meme of the 2021-22 season thus far, Aaron Rodgers made this infamous face against the Arizona Cardinals during the Packers’ 24-21 win during Sunday Night Football. You can’t say he doesn’t look like he’s looking for the remote so he can hit that, ‘Yes,’ button.
