Damar Hamlin Returns to Instagram After FaceTiming With His Team

On Saturday evening, Damar Hamlin surprised his fans by returning to Instagram less than one week after he collapsed on the field during the Monday Night football game.

“When you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x’s as much.. 62 62, 62 The Love has been overwhelming, but I’m thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brung the world back together behind this. If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road keep praying for me!”

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, on Friday morning, Damar Hamlin’s medical team made a major decision. It was time to take Hamlin off his ventilator.

Now, as his progress continues in the right direction, Hamlin is breathing on his own for the first time since the tragic events took place.

In fact, Hamlin is doing so well, he virtually attended his team’s Friday meeting. Through FaceTime, the Bills organization was comforted to see their beloved teammate well on his road to recovery.

Hamlin was even able to speak to his team, sharing a three-word message; “Love you boys.”

As updates continue to roll in more frequently, as Mamas Uncut reported yesterday, Hamlin is now awake and at first, was able to communicate with his family and doctors through the written word. The first question he asked doctors was also revealed.

According to ESPN, Hamlin asked, “Who won the game?” Can you believe that? Doctors reportedly replied by telling Hamlin, “Yes, you won. You won the game of life.” Amazing.

As At The Buzzer reported earlier on January 5, in a new statement released by the Bills organization, Damar Hamlin is making major strides. “Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours.”

“While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress. We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”

On January 4, new information has been shared with the public regarding Hamlin’s status. While the 24-year-old Bills safety remains in critical condition, the news is that Damar Hamlin’s breathing is improving.

Since the horrific events took place during Monday Night Football, Hamlin has been on a ventilator to help him with his breathing.

In an update given to the public by Hamil’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn told CNN those first responders were able to “resuscitate him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.”

“They sedated him just to give a better chance for him to just continue to heal better. We are just taking it day by day. It seems like he’s trending upwards in a positive way,” Glenn continued.

Glenn further revealed that Damar Hamlin has since been “flipped over on his stomach” in order to help with the blood that had been aspirated into his lungs.

“I’m not a crier, but I’ve never cried so hard in my life. Just to know, like, my nephew basically died on the field and they brought him back to life. It’s just heartbreaking. It was a gut punch. I’m just glad he’s alive and able to fight and trying to get better and recover.”

As At The Buzzer previously reported, several hours after Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, suffering cardiac arrest during the first quarter of the Monday Night Football game on January 2, the NFL has made a decision in regards to the game that was ultimately postponed.

Around the same time, Hamlin’s family released their first statement:

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country,” the statement reads.

“We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.”

“Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us,” the statement continues. “Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them.”

Damar Hamlin, a 24-year-old safety for the Buffalo Bills, collapsed on the field during the Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL at 10:05 p.m. released a statement after canceling the game. You can read that statement below:

Several hours later, at around 2:30 a.m. EST, the Bills organization issued a second update. It was revealed that Damar Hamlin was still in critical condition and sedated.

It was further revealed that Hamlin’s heart did stop on the field but that it was also restarted before he was put into the ambulance and rushed to the hospital that was located just two miles away.

“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

And at around 1:30 p.m. on January 3, the Bills offered another update. “Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far.”

As At The Buzzer reported last night, what was seen on national television was Hamlin going in for a tackle and taking a hard hit. Hamlin gets up from the hit, takes a few steps, and then collapses.

Damar Hamlin Collapses on the Field During Monday Night Football Game

Immediately after he hit the ground, trainers and first responders quickly tended to Hamlin as an ambulance was brought onto the field. For minutes, CPR was administered to Hamlin as his teammates and the world watched in disbelief.

It was a scene unlock any football player, coach, and fan had ever seen.

Hamlin was eventually given oxygen and placed into the ambulance. Immediately after Hamlin was rushed to the hospital, the teams made the call to temporarily suspend the game.

No further details are known at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hamlin, his family, and the rest of the Buffalo Bills organization.
