After going into cardiac arrest on January 2nd, Damar Hamlin has been working hard to regain his strength. Recently, he used his stamina to make an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer.
Over two months ago, the 24-year-old Buffalo Bills player suddenly collapsed on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. “His heartbeat was restored on the field, and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment,” his team announced at the time.
Although doctors initially did not know if he would regain cognitive ability, he gradually demonstrated signs of improvement and was discharged from the hospital by January 11th.
Not rushing to get back in the spotlight, Hamlin took his time adjusting to everyday life before he began making appearances and taking interviews. In his first televised interview on Good Morning America, he told Michael Strahan on February 13 that he’s “still working through things. I’m still trying to process all the emotions, the trauma, that comes from dealing with a situation like that.”

Since acclimating to the climate of national attention, Hamlin most recently could be seen in Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer. Amazingly, he used this experience to conduct a special surprise for his little brother, Damir.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Buffalo Bills in the building! Damar Hamlin, the man that brought the whole world together, inspiring us all!” announced Nick Cannon, revealing the identity of the Bills player.
One show judge even shouted, “It’s so good to see you! Oh my gosh, I am freaking out! I’m just so glad you’re here, but more importantly, I’m just so glad you’re healthy. The whole world loves you!”
However, he quickly made it clear that he was not the star of the show. Instead, he redirected the attention to Damir. “Mainly because of my brother,” Hamlin said, explaining why he made the decision to appear on the show. “You know, that’s my world. I put family first. And he loves Sesame Street more than most things. So, we had to make it tonight.”
The wholesome moment entailed Damir taking a seat on the famous 123 Sesame Street tenement stoop next to Elmo following the performance of a singer. When Elmo began speaking with the boy, Damir said he was there with his brother.
Nick Cannon even when as far as calling the event “such a beautiful moment.”
