Throughout this trying time, those who are able to donate to the causes that have been set up to help struggling communities have shown up in a big way. One of those people, in particular, is New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany.

On March 26, it was reported by ESPN that Drew and Brittany have pledged $5 million to the state of Louisiana in an effort to aid their home state during this unprecedented time. Drew took to his Instagram account to announce their donation publicly.

“Brittany and I are committing $5,000,000 to the State of Louisiana in 2020,” the quarterback began his statement. “The priority now is helping our communities get through this tough time.”

“After considerable research and conversations with local organizations, we will be mobilizing our partnerships with Second Harvest Food Bank, Ochsner Health Systems, Walk-Ons, Jimmy Johns, Smalls Sliders and Waitr to prepare and deliver over 10,000 meals per day throughout Louisiana for as long as it takes to children on meal programs, seniors, and families in need. Let’s all do our part, maintain hope, and get through this together,” Drew continued.

And many of Drew’s fans, included some of his most famous opponents, took to the comments section of his post to commend him and Brittany for their extreme generosity. “Incredible! Leaders lead,” J.J. Watt wrote. “Beautiful gesture by you and Brittany.”

“Now that is some serious IMPACT right there,” personal trainer Todd Durkin said. “Way to always be LEADING from the front!” And former quarterback Doug Flutie added, “Absolutely amazing, Drew!!!!”

And amazingly enough, while Drew and Brittany’s contribution is one of the bigger donations we’ve seen so far, it’s certainly not the only. From Watt and Russell Wilson to Zion Williamson, Mark Cuban, and so many more, stars from every sport are stepping up in a big way to help those in need during this very trying time. And we thank them for that.
