Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife Brittany recently welcomed their second child into the world: Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III. Excitingly, his birth means that their 21-month-old daughter Sterling Skye is now a big sister. Taking to Instagram, the mother shared with fans the youngster adjusting to her role as the eldest sibling.
The Instagram story showcased the toddler wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket snuggling with baby Bronze, who was sporting an adorable consolation once. “Truly been the best big sissy,” Brittany said of the precious picture.
This week, the mother of two opened up about Sterling’s new role as a big sister and updated fans on this adjustment period. According to Brittany, her daughter is doing great.
“Just a little emotional today thinking about how blessed I am and how proud of this little angel I am. She has been doing so good as a big sister. She loves her brother so much & has been just the best little helper,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post.
“I felt like so many people were trying to put this negative idea of how much she was gonna hate not being the only child into my head & it was kind of starting to upset me,” the 27-year-old mother continued, getting more vulnerable with her audience. “If you are a new mom, or about to become a mama of multiple kiddos, just know everyone’s story is different & don’t let other people’s ideas get to you!”
She concluded with the sentiments, “It’s your family & your own journey. It will all work out, stay positive and enjoy every second of it.”
Patrick Mahomes discusses Sterling Skye becoming a big sister
During an appearance on The Drive Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio (Kansas City), Patrick Mahomes also confirmed that his daughter is elated over the family’s new addition. “She wants to hold him, and take care of him, and everything like that,” the quarterback shared.
Mahomes went on to detail that Sterling, “wants to play all day, and we have to tell her to be gentle. And we have to tell her to don’t throw him like a toy baby…That’s a real baby you got there.”
“I think the only thing that she hasn’t figured out yet is why mom has someone else that’s not her she’s holding all the time, so she’s figuring that part out, but other than that she loves her little brother,” he revealed.
