Barrera posted on December 4 that on Sunday, November 29, his wife delivered their son. But, tragedy struck.

“On Sunday November 29, 2020 my wife delivered our son at 7:12am,” Barrera said in the Instagram post. “Unfortunately our God decided (He) needed him in heaven before he was able to take his first breath. The emotion, the pain, are all things that one can not describe. As we mourn the loss of our baby boy, our faith remains strong and we will continue to take strides one day at a time in His name.”

Barrera and his wife are remaining strong in their faith. It’s keeping them going in what’s been such a tragic and difficult past few weeks for them.

Barrera started off the post thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers through “these tough times” and for those who’ve reached out to him and his wife.

“2020 has been a tough year for many, but it has definitely beaten us more than anything before,” Barrera said.

Just 13 weeks ago, Barrera had posted a picture with him, his wife, and pictures of the ultrasound saying: “Sometimes dark times serve to remind us how brightly the greatest blessing in our lives shine. Can’t wait to meet you little man🙏🏽💙”

Now, with their strong faith in God, their marriage, the support of family, friends, and teammates, they are facing this next season of life “one day at a time in His name”.

The MLB catcher is grateful for his wife, as they tackle this difficult journey together.

“I am most proud to call…myself the husband of my wife Lindsey,” Barrera said. “She is the strongest person I know and she will forever be my hero.”

“Forever our angel…

Kaius Lee Barrera…”

The Nats could get another World Series championship next season for the second time in three years. As they strive to get back there, one of their catchers will have a special angel with him through it all.

Kaius Lee Barrera, Tres’ little angel, will be looking out for his dad as the catcher is now “back to work…looking forward to helping (his) team in 2021”.
