In just three years at the University of Alabama, Ruggs had 98 receptions for 1716 yards. On January 6, 2020, Ruggs announced that he would skip his senior year to enter the 2020 draft.

At the NFL Combine, Ruggs put on a show, including the 4th fastest recorded 40 yard dash time at the combine ever, with a time of 4.27, just .05 seconds behind John Ross’s record-breaking 40 yard dash time.

Going into the Draft, Ruggs was projected by most to go behind his two Alabama teammates, Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb. However before Jeudy or Lamb were selected, Henry Ruggs III was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 12th pick in the draft.

The Injury

While helping a friend move, Ruggs reportedly got pinned against a car and received a cut that put him in crutches.

Henry Ruggs’ father said “He was trying to move a trailer or something — move furniture or something — and the trailer just kind of pinned him against a car or a wall or something… He’s pretty much OK. I’m about to go out there and see him in a little bit. It was just like a little open wound on his leg, a little incision. Like something had stuck him right there on his thigh a little bit.”

Although the cut does not appear to be serious, many Raiders fans are praying that their 12th round pick is ok.
