Here are All the New NFL Head Coaches You’ll See Next Year

The new year has brought about resolutions, goals that were set set, and new journeys and challenges that await. It’s a time for many people “to start making some changes” as Tupac famously said in ‘Changes’. When it comes to the NFL, some changes have been made for multiple teams in the head coaching department. At The Buzzer has a full compiled list here for you. So sit, back, read on, and enjoy.

Robert Saleh

Robert Saleh is now the New York Jets new head coach and inherits a team that went 2-14 last season.

According to ESPN: “there was plenty of competition for Saleh, who received interview requests from six of the seven teams in the NFL head-coaching market.”

As the 49’ers defensive coordinator, Saleh helped lead the 49’ers to the Super Bowl last year. In that 2019 season, the team’s defense ranked first in receiving yards allowed, first in the league in forced fumbles, and fifth in the league in sacks.

Here’s what people are saying about the hire:

Arthur Smith

Arthur Smith is the new Atlanta Falcons head coach. Smith inherits a team that went 4-12 last season.

Smith was the Titans’ offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020, helping the team get to the playoffs both times, including to the AFC Championship in 2019 only to lose to the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini: “among all (offensive coordinators) in the last 20 seasons, Arthur Smith offenses ranked 1st in red zone efficiency, 2nd in yards per play, and 4th in scoring”.

Urban Meyer

No, Urban Meyer‘s not coming back to college football to coach the Buckeyes or Gators. Meyer is returning to football in Florida but this time in the professional ranks. The recent college football on FOX analyst is now the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As a college football head coach, Meyer has a record of 187-32 and in bowl games is 12-3. Meyer won two BCS championships with Florida and one College Football Championship with Ohio State. Meyer coached 13 consensus All-Americans including Tim Tebow, Denzel Ward, and Joey Bosa.

Here’s what people are saying about the hire:

Brandon Staley

Brandon Staley is the Chargers new head coach. Staley comes from that other LA team up the 405, the Rams.

As the Rams defensive coordinator in 2020, the team ranked first in a lot of areas including points allowed, total yards allowed, and passing touchdowns allowed. Staley coached outside linebackers with the Bears in 2017 and 2018 and with the Broncos in 2019.

As we started this thing off, it was time for a change for a lot of these NFL teams’ head coach positions. Now, it’s on to that change for teams who’ve been advocating for social injustice off-the-field on issues Tupac was talking about when it comes to social injustice.

In the meantime at NFL front offices, we’re still waiting on official announcements from the Lions, Texans, and Eagles on who their new head coaches will be.
