When Tom Brady announced he was retiring last year, no one was surprised when he came back for another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But, is he really committed to retirement this time around?

Following the end of the 2022-2023 NFL season, the legendary quarterback took to Instagram and said his professional playing career was officially coming to a close. “I’m retiring for good,” he said during the video announcement. “I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. So I won’t be long-winded. I think you only get one super-emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year.”

With this being said, some fans were still convinced Brady’s name could be seen on the upcoming Buccaneers roster. Especially when  NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen insinuated on his show that the possibility is entirely there.

“Number one rumor I heard at the [NFL] Combine? Not in terms of chatter, but this one just blew my mind: Tom Brady may not be done after all,” the NFL anchor said on his show.

“A couple people were just like, ‘Hang on, just you wait.’ And I’m like, ‘He’s Instagramming out [pictures] of his cat, you know?,’ Eisen added. “But it doesn’t look like he’s getting big and fat, does it? Let it play out. Let’s see who wants what.”

Continuing, the anchor noted that the Miami Dolphins may have a starting quarterback position if Tua Tagovailoa is not cleared from the injury list in time for the fall. “If somehow, some way, a doctor’s report [is published], a medical evaluation of Tua that he may not be ready to go, suddenly there’s Tom Brady sitting in Florida where his family is located and where he can easily locate himself.”

However, after Brady heard this, he made sure to shut down any rumors that we would return to the field for this upcoming season. Taking to Twitter, he insisted that his retirement decision is final.

“Anyone who thinks I have time to come back to the NFL has never adopted a 2 month old kitten for their daughter,” Brady wrote in response to the rumors circulating around social media.

As far as anyone’s concerned, it doesn’t seem like fans can expect to see the athlete in a Tampa Bay jersey anytime soon.
