Adorable Athletic Power Couple JJ and Kealie Watt are Expecting Their 1st Child Together!

Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt recently announced that he and his professional soccer-playing wife Kealia are expecting their first child together.

The pair began dating in 2016 and by 2019, the two were engaged. The following year, the athletic power couple was married. After two years of marriage, they are excited to announce that they are expecting a baby boy. Taking to social media, the Watts’ shared a paternity photo set, many of them including the defensive end cradling the baby bump of his wife.

“Could not be more excited,” Watt wrote in the caption of his post.

After the photos were released to the public, fans could not contain their excitement and the comment section was flooded with supportive messages. However, Instagram was not the only place where Watt’s discussed his fatherhood. In a recent press conference, the defensive end opened up about his shoulder injury and the arrival of his son.

Arizona Cardinals head coach discusses JJ Watt and acclimating to fatherhood

Last season, Watt lost a large majority of his playing time due to a shoulder injury and only returned for the playoffs. With a new baby on the way, it is only expected that he will have to prioritize time with his growing family over time with his team. Although head coach Kliff Kingsbury knows that Watt’s time will likely be split in the upcoming season, he recognized the need to spend time with family.

“It would be great if we had him all 17 games,” the coach commented. “Having a baby is super foreign to me, so I kind of stay away from that, and let the guys who have gone through that let them talk them through that, but I’m sure we’ve worked it out with previous situations.”

Fatherhood in the NFL is not uncommon and it seems as though Watt has his entire team backing him up as he prepares for the baby’s due date. In fact, the athlete relayed that his teammates offered him a book of parenting tips, but is yet to see an actual physical book.

“I’m going to wait for that book,” he said with a laugh. “All these guys tell me they’re going to give me tips. I haven’t got one tip yet.”
