The incident allegedly occurred due to a trash dispute, which was solved by 28-year-old Adam Abdul-Jabbar stabbing his 60-year-old neighbor multiple times. Adam did not deal any major damage to his victim, Ray Windsor, as Ray was able to drive himself to the hospital, and he is now fine. However, according to Ray, he was stabbed 7 times.

The conflict allegedly started when Windsor started verbally berating Abdul-Jabbar on his treatment of his housemate. Adam Abdul-Jabbar lives with an 83-year-old lady (his mother’s friend), and according to an interview with Windsor “[Adam] doesn’t do anything for her, she’s in a walker taking the trash cans out.” Clearly, Adam did not enjoy being told how to live by his neighbor, and he threatened to come back (outside) with a knife.

At first, Windsor did not believe the threat, but Adam reportedly followed through. It is not clear whether Adam had an intention to kill his neighbor, as he stabbed him in the head and neck, yet did not end up killing him. Perhaps he hit the wrong spots, or perhaps he only wanted to teach his neighbor a lesson.

Following Adam’s arrest, he was quickly bailed out of a jail sentence with $25,000, which worries his neighbors. Daughter of Ray Windsor, Rachel, said in an interview with the New York Post that she was worried he might “come back and finish the job.” Not two days after stabbing his neighbor, with the power of money, Adam was back living next door to him.

Clearly, the narrative outlined above by victim Ray Windsor is only one half of the story, however, both Adam Abdul-Jabbar and his father Kareem have declined to comment, however, Adam did apologize privately to his neighbors.
