Brie Larson AKA Captain Marvel Gives Olympic Medalist Laurie Hernandez ‘Formal Stamp Of Approval’ For Outfit Inspired By Comic Book Superhero
Laurie Hernandez is a two-time Olympic medalist, getting a gold and silver medal at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games (per Team USA). She also, “at age 16, became youngest celebrity to win “Dancing with the Stars” according to Team USA.
Recently, Hernandez would compete at the 2021 Winter Cup. “Hernandez competed for the first time since the Rio Olympics” according to NBC Sports. The cup was “the first significant elite gymnastics meet in the U.S. in nearly one year” per NBC Sports .
According to ESPN, “her journey since leaving Brazil included dabbling in the trappings that came with newfound stardom, moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles and parting with a coach currently serving a five-year suspension for abusive behavior.”
To be able to come back from that adversity takes a heroic effort, one that actress Brie Larson noticed who plays the fictional comic book superhero Captain Marvel.
“At the Winter Cup, the…Olympic gymnast performed a new floor routine in her first gymnastics meet since the 2016 Rio Olympics. For the return performance, Hernandez wore a leotard inspired by Captain Marvel” according to People.
“Ok so I told some of y’all that my leos I designed for this year are all inspired by superheroes… here’s the first one!” Hernandez said on an Instagram post as transcribed by People. “@brielarson queen do u approve?? #captainmarvel”.
Larson: “Watching and wishing you strength in your return!”
Larson responded: “@LaurieHernandez Consider this my formal stamp of approval!! Watching and wishing you strength in your return!”
Hernandez thanked Larson and then suggested they should play video games (specifically Mario Kart or Zelda) together:
Larson is down as she replied back to Hernandez: “DONE”.
That could be an intense Mario Kart competition. “Captain Marvel” vs a 2-time Olympic medalist. What character do you think they’d use in that video game. What’s your favorite character to use in Mario Kart? Let us know in the comments.
Aside from the potential Larson vs Hernandez Mario Kart game, Hernandez thanks you for the support as she made her way back to competing in gymnastics again.
