The 37-year-old father has made it explicitly clear that one of his biggest dreams is to play basketball alongside his teenage son in a professional manner. Recently, the athlete signed a $97.1 million extension of his current contract which ensures he will be on the Los Angeles Lakers until 2024. And, by that year, his son will be eligible for the NBA draft, making James’ dream a very real possibility.

“Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be,” LeBron said in an interview in February of this year, discussing his hopes for his son’s future career. “I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year.”

He also continued this train of thought in the following months. By April, James repeatedly mentioned wanting to play basketball with his son. During an episode of LeBron’s YouTube show Uninterrupted’s The Shop, he shared the sentiments, “[Bronny’s] No. 1 on my list. I want to play with [him] for sure.”

Currently, Bronny is entering his senior year at Sierra Canyon High School. He is ranked as the 34th national point guard and the sixth-best combo guard and fourth in California. His talents have reportedly attracted multiple high-ranking schools, but his father has shut down any rumors about where he will end up.

LeBron James says his son hasn’t made a college decision yet, despite rumors

When the Bleacher Report Hoops Twitter account tweeted, “Oregon has emerged as the front-runner to land a commitment from Bronny James,” his father made sure to let fans know that Bronny has not given much thought to his future NCAA career.

“He hasn’t taken 1 visit yet and has only had a few calls with coaches and universities,” the father wrote in response to rumors. “When Bronny makes his choice you’ll hear it from him.”

Given his father’s status as one of the best basketball players of this generation, Bronny will have big shoes to fill once he is drafted to a team.

James is entering his 19th season with the NBA and is the highest-earning player in the history of the association. Following his newest contract extension, he has totaled $532 million throughout his career. However, what is more impressive, is his talent on the court; he holds four championship titles, four NBA Finals MVPs, four league MVPs, 18 All-NBA selections, 18 All-Star nods, and six All-Defensive selections.
