The longtime couple exchanged vows at the JW Marriot in Nashville, Tennessee in early November and needless to say, their wedding was superb. The atmosphere was magical all across the board, but the most iconic factor that went into the day was their five-foot-tall wedding cake made by the incredible Tennessee-based Jo’s Custom Cakes & Catering.

“When putting together the design concepts for the wedding, I knew I wanted the cake to be large. Since Mike is such a tall groom, it had to match him,” Roy said during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, explaining the reason behind having such a substantial cake. She added the sentiments, “Also since it was a focal point of the room it had to be a stunner.”

The cake, which stood at seven feet when elevated on its platform, consisted of three different flavors and was iced with Jo’s signature buttercream frosting. The amaretto, strawberry, and chocolate flavored concoction were delicately designed by Mary Griffis and Tiffanie Elliott, who made the bold decision to decorate the Oher/Roy cake with over 200 rice paper sail feathers.

“We wanted something with movements that would resemble feathers and wings seen through the décor and on the ballerina’s costumes,” Elliott shared, speaking of the edible masterpiece.

Michael Oher discusses his beautiful wedding day on social media

As much as Oher and Roy’s cake deserves to be celebrated, the real significance is obviously the love shared between the couple. The retired Baltimore Ravens player was with his wife for over 17 years before making the decision to tie the knot. And, as expressed on social media, he couldn’t be more excited to share the rest of his life with Roy.

“Filled with joy, can’t believe people took their time and came to celebrate. My beautiful wife, I love you so much, thank you for blessing me with our family! Easily the best single weekend I’ve ever been a part of,” Oher wrote on Instagram, celebrating his wedding with fans across the world.

Oher then added, “Not being from the area everyone came to was even more special. I won’t be able to tell everyone, thank you, if I saw you this weekend, thank you! I’m complete, let’s keep trending upward.”
