Mother Receives Hugs From Basketball Team After Her Son Died Suddenly

One year after Ely Dehart passed away in a sudden car accident, his basketball team continues to support his mother through her grief.

Jennifer Dehart has been outspoken on social media about the tragic loss of her teenage son. Ely was an avid basketball player and considered his team a second family. Amazingly, they felt likewise about him. Following his passing, they never stopped viewing the Deahart’s with love and even found ways to let Jennifer know her son is still with her.

In a video originally posted on TikTok, the mother shared how her son’s basketball team continues to carry on the life of Ely. “They hug me to remind me my son will always be a part of the team,” she wrote in the caption of the video. “This means more to me than they will ever know. It’s like my child is hugging me and telling me he loves me. Thanks for all the hugs, boys.”

Since being shared on social media, SportsCenter picked up the story and a flood of support from families all over the world has been vocalized to the family. Many commenters have shared that the story has made them cry and many individuals have also applauded Jennifer’s strength.
