Tennis star, Naomi Osaka, is teaming up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, for an NFT platform called Autograph. Autograph is cofounded by the NFL player and aims to generate a one-of-a-kind experience through the sponsorship of big brands and celebrities.
“It seemed like a very cool opportunity, and when Tom Brady asked me to join the Advisory Board and create my own NFTs, I knew I couldn’t say no,” Osaka said, according to People. She additionally offered, “There are some real sports legends working with Autograph — Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky — it’s pretty awesome to be in their company.”
NFT stands for Non-Fungible Tokens, which Forbes defines as, “a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.”
Osaka herself also revealed what NFTs mean to her and particularly why she finds them so exciting. “NFTs bring together art, design, and technology in a way that really speaks to the way we consume media these days. The more I work with and experience the crypto and NFT space I see how easily they can be bought, sold, and gamified,” she explained.
She added, “NFTs and sports are a natural fit — it’s the new wave of collecting digitally on your phone and devices. Autograph is also making NFTs much more accessible with various price ranges, so I think mostly anyone that wants to be a part of this ultimately can, which I find really appealing.”

Naomi Osaka calls Tom Brady a ‘role model’
The two athletes both agree on the importance of NFTs in the world, but Osaka has admitted that the former New England patriot has been a great assistance in guiding her through the crypto lifestyle. “Tom inspires me in so many ways as an athlete and an entrepreneur,” Osaka commented.
She added, “He’s always rethinking the playbook and pushing boundaries while remaining so true to himself, which is something I try to do as well,” before continuing with the sentiments, “He has led himself both on and off the field with grace and has been a great role model. I am excited to be a part of this and to continue to learn and grow in other areas of my life.”
