The Best Thing That Happened To Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes In 2020 Wasn’t The Super Bowl: ‘It Had To Be A Tie Between the Engagement And The Pregnancy’
The new year brings about a time to reflect on what the previous year looked like. That includes what was the most memorable, what did you learn from, where did you most grow as a person, the list goes on.
It’s a time to make resolutions and to look ahead with expectancy and hope. Considering 2020 was crazy for so many, taking the time to look back on what you were grateful for can help keep it all in perspective.
Ever wonder what Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes most enjoyed about 2020?
Was it winning that Super Bowl?
Well, Mahomes was on 610 Sports Radio’s The Drive with Carrington Harrison & ‘The Sports Machine’ Sean Levine where he was asked what the best thing that happened to him in 2020.
“To me, it had to be a tie between the engagement and the pregnancy,” Mahomes said on The Drive. “Those things are special that you don’t get to happen a lot in your life. Being able to be a dad and be able to get married here soon. I’m truly thankful for that.”
Boom. There you go. Shout out to Mahomes for recognizing what his priorities are and that it’s so much bigger than just football.
I’m sure many of you took a step back to reflect on really what was most important in your life. Whether that meant cutting certain habits out that were detrimental for you, or surrounding yourself with people that uplift and encourage you, not bring you down. When adversity strikes, you realize what’s truly valuable.
And maybe that was even realizing how much family means to you over your profession. Although it’s admirable to work hard and have a job, the balance of being present with family, friends, and loved ones, I’m sure rang true for many in 2020, ringing in the new year.
In Mahomes’ profession? The quarterback reached the peak of any NFL player’s aspirations, to get the Super Bowl. And not only that but the MVP of that game, as well. And still, the best thing that happened to Mahomes wasn’t that, it was this huge news with his fiancé.
What about that Super Bowl, you ask?
“I mean, the Super Bowl was awesome, as well, but those things, those change your life,” Mahomes said on The Drive. “It’s bigger than football.”
Mahomes was also asked on the radio show about a goal he had outside of winning the Super Bowl in 2021:
“I would just say to be the best father that I can possibly be,” Mahomes said on The Drive. “It’s going to be a new thing for me, first time dad, and to be able to experience that and go through that I just want to do whatever I can to make our little girl’s life the best that it can possibly be.”
