Former NFL Star Peyton Manning, 45, Discusses His Next Big Plans

Peyton Manning Accuses New England Patriots of Bugging Locker Room

Retired professional football player, Peyton Manning, sat down with his brother Eli during ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” while he commentated on that night’s Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game. However, the retired Denver Broncos quarterback revealed a lot more than just football calls: he implied that the New England Patriots cheated during his time in the NFL.

The story originates from El Manning’s perspective when Eli defeated the Patriots in two Super Bowl games during his time with the New York Giants. He went on to disclose that he wouldn’t be surprised if there was cheating during the games. Particularly, the second match when the stakes were higher.

“I remember, we played the Patriots in that second Super Bowl in Indianapolis,” Eli recalled. He then posed the question, “They practiced at your facility all week. Were you a little nervous, going back in your facility the next year, that they didn’t have cameras in your quarterback room?”

When Eli asked this question, it gave his brother the opportunity to discuss in depth what he really thinks New England got up to back in the day. Apparently, Manning wouldn’t be surprised if the Patriots used foul play.

Peyton Manning thinks the New England Patriots put mics in locker rooms!

“Every time I played against New England, I used to go and talk to my receivers in the shower, in the far corner,” Peyton explained, speaking on the tactics he would use to avoid the Patriots. He even explained, “I’m like, ‘Don’t talk about a play next to my locker, because I know it’s bugged. I know it’s got a hot mic in there.’ Very strange to see seven guys hanging out back there in the shower, but I take all precautions.”

While it is unclear if Manning was joking or not, would it really be all that surprising if it was true? History says no. The New England Patriots have a long and well-documented past of getting up to mischief and using dishonest means to win a game. Most notably, the Spygate scandal of 2007, when the team videotaped the New York Jets during a game.

Yet, the scandals do not end there. Tom Brady faced a four-game suspension in 2016 after he was allegedly seen deflating footballs in the AFC championship game in which New England was playing the Colts.
