Some people hold sports so close to their hearts that they will make every aspect of their lives revolve around said sport. Shad Tuten, a professional golf player and Korn Ferry Tour competitor, proved this fact to be true.
Most people dream of a romantic getaway for their honeymoon; Paris, Hawaii, Rome. But, for a golf legend, there is nothing more dreamy and romantic than bringing your bride to a major golfing competition. Since the Korn Ferry Tour Huntsville Champion fell a week after his wedding, Tuten and his wife Beccah enjoyed their honeymoon in a place few would consider a top destination spot: Huntsville, Alabama.
Most people do not spend their first week of marriage competing in a significant sporting competition, but for Tuten, he did what had to be done. Although unconventional, he and his wife’s PGA Tour honeymoon was certainly one for the books.
Speaking on behalf of Beccah, the professional golfer acknowledged that his wife really took one for the team this time around. “She’s very nice,” Tuten said, according to Golf Digest. He peppered in the sentiments, “Huntsville, Alabama, is not exactly Italy…. But we’re really enjoying our time.”
Beccah had no problem agreeing with his opinion, as well. “Yeah, I wish I was in a spa somewhere,” she admitted. However, knowing how important the competition was to her newlywed husband, she was able to make light of the situation. She added, “But it’s fine. Everything’s good.”

Professional athleticism is not a life everyone is cut out to handle. It comes with compromise, tight schedules, and a very high level of dedication. Knowing that the only opening Tuten had in his schedule was the weekend before the championship, the couple had to make the best out of a sticky situation.
The two married in their shared hometown of Aiken, South Carolina on the weekend, before promptly packing up the car and making the drive to Alabama.
“We left Monday right after the wedding to come here to Alabama,” Beccah explained. Yet, it seemed as though there wasn’t any actual animosity towards this plan: Tuten and his wife were grateful to get married during a weekend free of golf responsibilities, and the fact that Tuten had to spend his honeymoon competing felt like an appropriate representation of their relationship. “That’s so us,” Beccah relayed, referring to their post-wedding circumstances.
