In what was a whirlwind of a 2020 NFL season for the Washington Football Team, you can add its head coach Ron Rivera‘s journey, as one of the many adversities the team faced together.

Coach Rivera fought cancer and kicked its butt as he shared a Twitter post wanting to thank everyone for their support.

“Thank you everyone for your prayers, letters, texts & notes of encouragement & support,” Rivera said in the Tweet. “It truly made a difference in my treatment & recovery! #RiveraStrong“

NFL.com reports Rivera “is cancer-free”!

According to NFL.com: “The Washington Football Team head coach was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer in August. He completed treatment in late October and managed to not miss a game while leading WFT to the NFC East title, garnering support from his former team and throughout the league in the process.”

So many people were here for this, congratulating Coach Rivera and celebrating with him by replying to his post.

This is bigger than football. This is life. And even a Cowboys fan (Washington’s rival) recognizes that, joining in on the well wishes for Rivera. Rivera’s story is even inspiring people to keep fighting and supporting loved ones who are going through similar adversity, as well.
