Russell Westbrook Traded For John Wall, 1st Round Pick In Houston Rockets-Washington Wizards Deal
In an NBA offseason that saw major moves, signings, and draft picks, there were also some important trades teams had. Yet the trade it seemed like fans were waiting on was if Russell Westbrook would be traded out of Houston.
Now we know. Russell, welcome to your new team in DC with the Washington Wizards as ESPN reports the Rockets traded Westbrook for John Wall and a lottery-protected 2023 first round pick. And John, welcome to your new team in H-Town.
According to NBA on ESPN, Westbrook is the first NBA MVP to be traded in consecutive seasons.
John Wall, now a Houston Rockets point guard. Russell Westbrook, now a Washington Wizards point guard.
NBA Twitter of course went crazy:
The ‘brodie’ wanted to thank Houston:
And the dude who has a song named after him wanted to thank DC:
Both point guards will be missed:
All the best to both Wall and Westbrook in their new home towns. We’ll see soon enough how both guards fit into their new teams with the NBA regular season starting on December 22.
