As mental health cases skyrocketed in 2020, one of the practical tools to remember in helping relieve stress, anxiety, depression, and more is: practicing gratitude.

When you count your blessings and remember what you’re thankful for, even if it’s the little things, it can shift your mindset radically towards a healthy outlook on life that brings joy.

It’s also a great way to start the new year, bringing in the new year the right way.

For Alexis Ohanian, his wife Serena Williams, and their little one, Olympia, they have a tradition they really love: praying before dinner.

“Big milestone when Olympia first reminded *us* to do prayers at dinner–tho I still often get too carried away stuffing my face,” Ohanian said. “TBH it’s not something I did regularly as a kid, but it’s a tradition our family does that I really love.”

Shout out to Olympia for reminding her parents to set their focus on what’s true and right, thanking God before each meal, for the blessings given to the family.

“It’s a chance to reset for a minute each day and be thankful for all that we have,” Ohanian said. “Especially this year. (Thanks for taking the photo, S). We’re going into 2021 well armed with blessings and wish they abound for all of you, too. Especially if you’re thanking God for Paw Patrol and chocolate as regularly as Jr.”

Yes, count Paw Patrol as one of even the little things to be thankful for. Well, in Olympia’s case, the little one probably thinks that’s a huge blessing to be thankful for, as I’m sure many kids around the world are thankful for Paw Patrol entering 2021.

Williams also has reflected, even while baking a cake:

“I love rainbows,” Williams said in an Instagram post a couple days before Christmas. “They are a gift from God when I see one in the sky I remember his pact with all life. The (cake) I made was delicious too.”

And maybe photography is in Serena’s future after tennis?

That picture she took of her husband and daughter is epic: A father and daughter at the dinner table before a meal, sharing quality, bonding moments. Sharing prayers, and in this case, Olympia making sure they kept the prayers.

That’s got to be a front funner for a Ohanina-Williams household picture on a mantle.

Williams could call it:

Time to reflect and count blessings.

As you find time to reflect and count your blessings, Happy New Year to you and yours in 2021!
