Tennis legend Serena Williams has recently announced that she will not be participating in the US Open which takes place in New York City. She cited an injury as her reason for withdrawal and apparently, her time in recovery has been spent receiving piano lessons from her daughter, Olympia.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” Williams wrote on Instagram over a week ago.

She included the sentiments, “New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favorite places to play – I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering on from afar. Thank you for your continued love and support. I’ll see you soon.”
However, many people questioned what she would be doing to heal from this torn hamstring. Apparently, spending time with her 4-year-old daughter is working wonders.
Serena Williams receives amazing piano lesson from her amazing daughter, Olympia!
Williams shared the heartfelt moment with her followers on Instagram yesterday. Sitting beside her mother on the piano bench, Olympia put her teaching hat on and instructed Williams on which keys to hit. After the tennis star failed to do as Olympia requested, she jokingly questioned if she was going to get fired. The caption of the post read, “I teach her tennis… She teaches me piano…”

Additionally, Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian recently celebrated their child’s fourth birthday. Ohanian even took to Instagram to share a picture of his daughter and wrote, “This is 4 @olympiaohanian and her mango tree (the one behind her left shoulder).”

Yet, Ohanian has also been vocal about his wife’s road to recovery and believes that Williams is skilled in knowing how to balance a healthy family and work life. Initially, he believed to have a “warped view of the path to excellence and the path to greatness being a direct result of just pure work,” but Williams quickly helped him learn other factors of professional athleticism.
He s even shared that he often struggles with this, but notes that his wife has a talent for it. “That is obviously core to it, but one thing that I’m still working on is balancing that with time off, time away, time to reset and recharge. Something [Williams] is really good at is shutting it off and focusing on family time and personal time.”
