After nine months of engagement, track and field Olympian Sydney McLaughlin and former NFL player Andre Levorne Jr. finally tied the knot.
At the Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia, the power couple married in front of friends and family on the 6th of May. “We’ve been waiting for this day for a very long time,” the gold medalist shared with PEOPLE during an exclusive interview. “So [we’re] just excited that it’s finally here and we can say that we’re married.”
In attendance were highly acclaimed Olympians and NFL players who had the chance to experience McLaughlin and Levorne Jr.’s union. When asked about the wedding, the two voiced that their biggest hopes were to be in the moment and cherish the time spent with loved ones.

McLaughlin shared the information, “I told our wedding planner, our videographer, our photographer, ‘I just want everything to be at a place where we can truly just enjoy every moment and I think the best wedding advice I received was that no wedding is perfect, there’s always something that’s going to go wrong, so making sure that you’re truly in the moment and just enjoying it and taking it for what it is, because before you know it, it’s over.”
With both partners having a career in professional athleticism, the two truly understand what one another experiences at work. Undoubtedly, this has made their bond strong and secure. Considering their likeness, building their lives together is something the two look forward to.

“I have a vision in life, she has a vision in life, and we just kind of merged our visions,” Levorne Jr. shared. “And being able to just model that the two of us are partners and what I like to call ‘co-laborers’ in life. And in this season of life, me primarily supporting her and her dream and her calling, is fun for me. And just knowing how supportive she is of me as well and in the long term.”
Supporting his now-wife also means taking a raincheck on their honeymoon. Since McLaughlin emerged in the track and field season at the moment, the newlyweds decided they would take their post-wedding trip after training is finished. The track star explained, “We’re still figuring out where we want to go and what we want to do, but we’re definitely not taking that off of the calendar at all.”
