If you’ve ever watched golf with your family during the past few decades, you may have noticed a common theme whenever Tiger Woods would play. A red shirt usually with that Nike swoosh stitched on the front. And fans became accustomed for a while to associate that final round to Tiger usually being near the front of the lead to compete for yet another win. Tiger, red shirts, and PGA Tour wins would go hand-in-hand.

So, when golfers on the PGA Tour and LPGA donned the signature red in tournaments on Sunday to cap off a week that had people around the world praying and hoping for the best after they heard the scary news of the car accident Woods was in, you could just imagine what this meant to Tiger himself.

“It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts,” Woods said in a Tweet. “To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

According to Bleacher Report: “With Tiger Woods recovering from (a) serious car accident…top players on tour (honored) the superstar by wearing his iconic Sunday outfit. Tony Finau, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood were among those wear red shirts and black pants Sunday at the WGC-Workday Championship”.

“Golfers at the Gainbridge LPGA on Sunday, including Annika Sorenstam, also wore red and black in support of Woods” according to CNN Philippines.

Collin Morikawa ended up winning the WGC-Mexico Championship and had this to say about Tiger along with honoring his beloved grandfather:

Thankfully, Tiger Woods Ventures stated in a Tweet that “the procedures were successful (on follow-up procedures on his injuries the morning of February 26), and (Woods) is now recovering and in good spirits”.
