Legendary Quarterback Tom Brady Gets to Miss Every Wednesday During 2022 NFL Season For Personal Reasons

When you’ve played the game for as long as Tom Brady has, the rules average players abide by are not going to apply. For the first time in his 23-year-long career, the star quarterback is taking every Wednesday off during the 2022 NFL season for personal reasons.

“Tom Brady will receive a veteran rest/personal day every Wednesday during the season, sources say,” sports journalist Ian Rapoport relayed on Twitter, announcing the 45-year-old’s new plan. And, what exactly does this rest day look like? Supposedly, backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert will take over his reps on the first and second-down days while the seven-time super bowl champion gets to work through his stress.

For the typical player, the atmosphere of professional athleticism can be extremely taxing; both emotionally and physically. However, it takes certain credentials to have the ability to freely take time off a league with such high stakes. It takes someone like Brady.

“For most players, it’s important,” Buccs head coach Todd Bowles explained to reporters in a recent press conference. “But I think when you play in the league a certain amount of time, and you prepare a certain way, it’s not necessary to practice that guy all the time. You’re going to practice, but you’re not going to practice all the time. You’ll get a day off here and there because it is a long season.”

Tom Brady is unlike many players for multiple reasons. Known for his extreme diet and dedication to the game, the fact that he continues to indulge in the intensities of the NFL at age 45 is shocking to many. He’s known for pushing boundaries and redefining what it means to be an athlete.

Yet, it is rumored that his wife Gisele Bündchen is unhappy that her husband is continuing to play the game. Allegedly, Brady prioritizing his career over his family has put a damper on his marriage. Considering the situation that has arisen with his wife, it is theorized that the quarterback is taking time off in order to spend more time with his family. 

According to an anonymous source, the NFL star is dedicating his entire off time to being with his wife and children.

“No other husband gets six months off a year to be totally devoted to just their family,” the source said, according to news outlet PEOPLE. “And during the season, yes he travels for games and trains, but he’s with his family a lot too.”

Earlier this month, the quarterback took 11 days off of training camp for undisclosed reasons. When confronted with his absence by reporters, he simply shared that he has “a lot of s— going on” which many fans believe was an issue revolving around his wife.

According to other sources close to the family, the 42-year-old supermodel would rather have Brady home for good, rather than a handful of days off throughout the season. From her perspective, he has nothing left to give to the game.

“She’s a very ‘pros vs cons’ person, and she sees very few pros to him playing anymore,” the insider explained. “She’s told him that he’s the GOAT, and he has absolutely nothing left to prove. He could be going out on top, and playing until the wheels fall off doesn’t seem to be the way to go out on top.”
