Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady, 44, on Returning to the NFL: 'Never Say Never'

Tom Brady’s 13-Year-Old Son Benjamin Experienced Bullying For Being an NFL Star’s Child

According to Gisele Bündchen, ex-wife of NFL legend quarterback Tom Brady, their 13-year-old son’s passions have left him bullied by peers.

In Bündchen’s most recent cover story in Vanity Fair for the April issue, the former wife of Brady and mother of two of the athlete’s children admitted that 13-year-old Benjamin is a bit of a black sheep. Unlike 15-year-old Jack, whom the quarterback shares with ex-Bridget Moynahan, Benjamin isn’t particularly interested in football.

While his older brother has begun his own journey as a quarterback on his football team and has dreams of one-day playing college football, the youngest son prefers non-contact sports like surfing and skiing.

However, Bündchen admitted that her child’s different interests left him ostracized by other kids. With others expecting him to have a natural drive for athleticism, falling short of this expectation was difficult. According to the issue, “athletic pressure of being Brady’s son led to bullying in Boston after one particular baseball game.”

This is also not the first time the family has openly discussed Benjamin’s lack of athletic priority. In 2019, the former Buccaneers quarterback was able to identify his son’s differences in a cover story for Men’s Health. In fact, he explained that while his older son Jack “loves sports,” Benny “likes different things.”

Tom Brady admits it was difficult adjusting to Benjamin’s lack of love for football.

Reflecting, Brady revealed his surprise at Benny’s apprehension. “I was like, ‘C’mon, let’s do this.’ And he was like, ‘Nope.’ And I was like, ‘What? No, do this!'” he explained, noting his child’s opposition to sports.

He even went on to admit that this surprise was a difficult adjustment when it came to being a father. With this being said, he had to find other common interests that would help them bond.

“And Gisele kept saying to me, ‘Would you effing understand that your son is different?’ ” Brady added. “It was hard for me. I was like, ‘What do you mean? He’s a boy; he should do all these things that I do.'”

“The reality is that Benny just likes different things,” he continued. “And it’s great because now I just have to go do what he wants to do. When we do that, we have the best time. He’s like, ‘OMG, Dad, you’re so funny.’ He loves joking, and I joke back.”
