Tom Brady, 44, Reveals a Shocking Character Twist: He’s Back to Eating Bread

Tom Brady is known for much more than his charm and good looks. Rather, he is known as the legendary Tampa Bay quarterback with seven Super Bowl wins under his belt. Perhaps the reason why the football superstar has been so successful in the sport is due to the strict diet that he has discussed very openly: no processed foods with an emphasis on vegetables and protein.

For this reason, the world would be under the impression that carbohydrate-filled bread would be an absolute no from the athlete. However, in a surprising turn of events, Brady has made himself known as a Subway spokesperson as he promoted their new 1-net carb, zero sugar bread.

“What’s up everyone,” the Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback said, introducing himself during the Subway commercial. “As well noted, your boy isn’t the biggest bread guy, but there’s a new bread that even I can eat. It’s Hero bread.”

“Zero sugar, 1-net carb, and only 100 calories,” Brady explained the characteristics of the bread with a proud smile plastered on his face. “Now I’m pumped that I can get back to bread, all because of Hero. Truly unbelievable.”

For Brady to openly ingest a Subway sandwich in front of a camera will do loads to help the Subway campaign revamp as a healthy fast food option. Considering the former New England Patriot has a well-documented history of clean eating, his actions have important consequences for Subway.

Tom Brady’s staggering dietary process

“The regimen I follow is a mix of Eastern and Western philosophies,” the 44-year-old athlete discussed. “Some of these principles have been around for thousands of years. My nutritional regimen may seem restrictive to some people, but to me it feels unnatural to eat any other way.”

A key component in Brady’s world is eating naturally. If a food doesn’t occur naturally, there is a slim chance he will eat it. He shared, “Many people have conditioned their bodies to a nutritional regiment made up of lots of white or pale-looking foods—french fries, potato chips, white bread, chicken nuggets—that don’t exist in nature.”

In an effort to boost sales, Subway is taking a little advice from Brady and changing up its menu to be more natural and simple. Not only this, but they are also making efforts to enhance the dining experience, such as offering delivery methods and other technological improvements.

“The Eat Fresh Refresh is just the beginning of the transformation ahead. With digital upgrades and more delivery options rolling out, I’m energized by the continued improvement happening at Subway,” David  Liseno, a representative of Subway shared in a press release, according to PEOPLE.
