Titans’ A.J. Brown Shares the Advice He Received From Tom Brady During Patriots-Titans Combined Practice in 2019

If you want to get better at your craft, it’s important to focus on your weaknesses, or so says former New England Patriots, current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. In 2019, the Tennessee Titans and Patriots held a series of combined practices.

It was at these practices that Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown, who was a rookie at the time, met Brady and received some advice from the 20-year veteran. Now Brown is sharing the advice Brady gave him.

While talking with Jim Wyatt of Titans Online, Brown explained that Brady was adamant about always focusing on your weaknesses if you’re looking to get better.

“He told me: Work on the things you know you need improvement on, so you won’t have no weakness. Everybody works hard, but everybody knows what their weakness is. Work on your weakness so you have no weakness.”

And it seems as though this is advice for anyone, regardless of your talent or profession. The only way to eliminate your weaknesses is by focusing on them and making it so that they one day become your strengths.

The advice clearly stuck with Brown, and although his rookie season revealed that Brown had very few weaknesses when it comes to football, he also admitted that he is prepared to become a target this season because of that.

“Julio Jones, Michael Thomas – everybody knows they’re coming, but you still have to go out and play,” Brown told Titans Online. “That’s my approach. Regardless of the film, whatever I did last year, nobody cares about that. You still have to come out and play every week, and that is what I learned last year, week in and week out.”

The NFL is still on track to return to the field this season despite COVID-19.
