Brehanna Daniels ‘Paving The Way’ On NASCAR Race Track As ‘First African-American Female To Serve On A Pit Crew For A NASCAR Race’
From college hoops to a NASCAR pit crew, Brehanna Daniels is part of history as she is “the first African-American female to serve on a pit crew for a NASCAR race” according to NSU Athletics.

Daniels was a guard at Norfolk State, earning “a spot on the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters during her junior year” and had a career high 17 points in February 2016 per the NSU Spartans site.
Brehanna Daniels became the first African American woman to work in a NASCAR Pit Crew in 2017.
Fast forward, or should we say fast track to February 2021, and Daniels is in another sport not-named-basketball. NASCAR racing. She was at the Daytona 500 as part of the pit crew of Rick Ware Racing per Daniels’ Twitter post. She said it was her “second time pitting the Daytona 500” and this year took on a new meaning for Daniels:
