At the end of August, the NFL player was caught in the midst of an armed robbery and shot twice in his leg. According to the police report, Robinson was in the District of Columbia to get something to eat when two assailants, both believed to be teenagers, pulled a gun on him. He suffered “a couple of gunshot wounds to his lower extremities” and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital.

“Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds,” police released in a statement. “The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

After being transported to the hospital, Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera visited the rookie in the hospital to investigate his player’s status. According to the coach, he was in good shape but couldn’t offer an answer on when he would be back on the field.

“He’s doing well. It will be a matter of time before he’s back out here. There’s no timeline, but everything was very positive,” Rivera said at the time of the incident. “It’s just about the healing process, and once he’s well enough to get on the field, doctors have to clear him and we’ll go from there. Everything is positive so far.”

Washington Commanders relay that Brian Robinson’s progress is ‘certainly incredibly’

And, Robinson has proved that his body is just not built like the rest of society. After only two weeks into the healing process, the running back has returned to the field and is actively doing intensive training with the rest of his team.

Taking to Instagram, the 23-year-old posted clips of him during practice, clearly excelling a the agility drills. “Day 1 back on the field,” Robinson wrote in the caption of his social media post.

The Washington Commanders also confirmed that the rookie running back was making progress and continuing to heal. “Brian Robinson continues to make progress in his recovery from multiple gunshot wounds. He was on a stationary bike Wednesday, and on Thursday he was doing agility drills,” the team announced. “[He] has a long way to go, but his progress is certainly incredible.”

It is unclear when the athlete will return to playing games, but a realistic projection is by Week 5 of the 2022 NFL season.
