Bubba Wallace Responds to President Donald Trump After He Called For Him to Apologize for His Team Reporting a Noose Found in His Garage

Back in June, just before NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was set to compete in Talladega, his team found a rope that was tied like a noose in the garage that was assigned to him. The rope was reported to the FBI by one of Wallace’s team members and NASCAR’s president Steve Phelps.

Days later, following an investigation by the FBI, it was revealed that the noose found in Wallace’s garage wasn’t the result of a hate crime, but that the rope had been there since October 2019. However, it was also revealed that of all the ropes found in Talladega that day, only one was tied like a noose.

Now, the president of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, is calling for Wallace to apologize, even though Wallace never saw the noose, nor was he a part of the reporting process. In a tweet shared on July 6, Trump said it was because of Wallace that NASCAR has seen some of its lowest ratings ever.

“Has Bubba Wallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX,” Trump asked. “That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!”

Trump also criticized Wallace for leading the way in banning the confederate flag at all NASCAR events. And according to The Wrap, Trump’s tweet is factually incorrect.

“2020 NASCAR viewership on Fox broadcast network and cable channel FS1 is up 8% since returning from its pandemic hiatus on May 17 when compared with the same number of races from the 2019 schedule, according to Nielsen numbers.”

The Wrap

Soon after, Bubba Wallace responded to Trump’s tweet with a statement of his own. He directed the words to the future generation following in his footsteps.

“Your words and actions will always be held to a high standard than others. You have to be prepared for that. You don’t learn these things in school. You learn them from trials and tribulations, the ups and downs this crazy world provides. You will always have people testing you. Seeing if they can knock you off your pedestal. I encourage you to keep your head held high and walk proudly on the path you have chosen. Never let anybody tell you can’t do something! God put us all here for a reason. Find that reason and be proud of it and work your tails off every day towards it! All the haters are doing is elevating your voice and platform to much greater heights! Last thing, always deal with the hate being thrown at you with LOVE! Love over hate every day. Love should come naturally as people are TAUGHT to hate. Even when it’s HATE from the POTUS… Love wins.”

It’s unclear if the President has seen Wallace’s response.
