The Curry Brand launched on December 1 and there’s way more to it than just shoes, clothes, and apparel.

A percentage of Curry Brand’s yearly revenue will be invested in under-resources communities according to an Under Armour news release.

“The goals are as high-achieving as his basketball records: by 2025, the Curry Brand aims to create at least 20 safe places to play, support 125 programs that impact young athletes, and deliver opportunities to train more than 15,000 coaches—making an overall impact on more than 100,000 youth,” Under Armour said in the news release.

“We have a shared goal of unlocking play for kids, so that became a natural place for us to focus,” Curry said per Under Armour. “I grew up doing a lot of things to give back to the community with my family—and continue that now—while Under Armour has done so much to support athletes around the world.”

Curry said it’s about changing the game for good.

“It’s achieving greatness no matter what your circumstances are,” Curry said via Under Armour’s site. “It’s about pushing yourself to the limits…it’s about impact at the end of the day.”

The Curry Brand now has an Instagram page introducing the brand, including this recent post: “I can do all things” referencing the Bible verse Curry likes: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13.

“Stephen has made youth his focus with his philanthropic efforts because he believes achieving success should not be dictated by circumstance. When it comes to athletics, less than 30% of youth ages 6 to 18 growing up in low-income households participate in organized sports, and low-income kids are six times more likely to quit sports because of financial costs. And now, as many sports programs impose increased fees and logistical hurdles in response to the coronavirus pandemic, experts anticipate participation will only decrease.”

Taking a look at the Curry Brand shop, products available to buy now include jogger pants, hoodies, basketball shoes of course, shirts that say underrated, a polo (hence Curry’s passion for golf), and shirts with the Curry Brand logo on it.

“Everything I put my name on has to be good—it has to help you play and it has to support our mission to change the game for good,” Curry said via Under Armour’s site.

Curry also recognizes the importance of play for the development of children.

“Play is a fundamental part of childhood and is critical to development,” Curry said per Under Armour. “So much of who I am as a person and a leader today is because of playing sports as a kid. I learned the value of hard work, resilience, teamwork, communication, time management—sports teach young athletes so many critical life skills, which is why I’m passionate about making sure everyone has access to these opportunities, first through my foundation and now through Curry Brand.”

On Under Armour’s Curry Brand site it says:

“Stephen was totally clear when he founded Curry Brand: it’s about making a lasting impact in everything we do, for better, forever. Just as he changed the game on the court, we are committed to changing the game for communities who need it most by bringing the joy of sports to every kid. That means breaking down the barriers to performance by committing our resources to provide access to programs, coaching development, safe places to play and great gear.”
