Former NFL star Doug Flutie Strongly Criticized For Campaigning With Herschel Walker During 2022 Election

After U.S. Senator candidate Herschel Walker lost in Georgia’s runoff election, social media users criticized former NFL player Doug Flutie for his involvement in Walker’s campaign.

“I’m so proud of him, we’re all so proud of him for all he’s gone through and what he’s done,” Flutie said after Walker’s loss to Rev. Raphael Warnock. “He gave it everything he had from day one, and he did it all for the right reasons. He cares about this state, and he cares about this country.”

Herschel Walker, who also played in the NFL as a running back, was largely condemned throughout his campaign for his pro-life stance on abortion, despite multiple women alleging that he paid for them to have abortions. He has been criticized across all media platforms, even by his right-wing social media influencer son, Christian Walker.

“I don’t care about someone who has a bad past and takes accountability. But how DARE YOU LIE and act as though you’re some ‘moral, Christian, upright man.’ You’ve lived a life of DESTROYING other people’s lives,” Christian Walker shared on Twitter, speaking of his own father. “How dare you.”

Doug Flutie introduces Herschel Walker prior to confession speech

However, in the corner of Walker’s support system, is Doug Flutie, a former professional quarterback. Following the Senate candidate’s loss, Flutie, who once won a Heisman Trophy, introduced the politician before his concession speech.

“It’s my privilege to have an opportunity to introduce Herschel to you – a guy that’s been a buddy, a friend, a pal – brothers for life – for the last 40 years,” he said of his former teammate, prior to Walker taking to the stage.

“I want to say that I want to thank all of you as well because we have had a tough journey,” the politician said during the concession speech. “One of the things I said when they called the race, I said the numbers doesn’t look like it’s gonna add up. But one of the things I want to tell all of you is you never stop dreaming. I don’t want any of you to stop dreaming.”

“I don’t want any of you to stop believing in America. I want you to believe in America and continue to believe in the constitution and believe in our elected officials most of all,” he continued. “I want you to continue to pray for them because all of the prayers that you had given me, I felt those prayers.”
