Smiling ear to ear with a beverage in her hand, the movie star sat happily with her husband Dave McCary. Making the jumbotron, Petco Park made sure to highlight the couple wearing matching brown Padres bomber jackets. While some crowd roared with excitement over the Oscar winner, Mets fans in the audience took her love for the San Diego Padres as a personal attack and immediately began booing.

Stone and McCary were quick to shrug off the hate and continue watching the game. To the couple, a bunch of Mets fans letting out displeasing sounds wasn’t going to bring down the mood, especially when the Padres personally celebrated their appearance on Twitter.

“Big fans of these fans. Hi Dave and Emma!” the San Diego Padres wrote on social media after Stone and McCary created the frenzy. In addition to the team, Padres CEO Erik Greupner took to Twitter to address the celebrity showing. “Style, grace, and good taste…Emma is always welcome @PetcoPark,” said Greupner.

This is also not the first time the pair was spotted at a Padres game. Last year, San Diego’s announcers Mark Grant and Don Orsillo were elated to pose next to Stone and McCary after being noticed at a game. “La La Land…Naaahhhh… More like, Padre Land! Thanks to Emma Stone and her Husband David McCary for visiting us in the booth. It was truly a pleasure! Go Padres!” Grant wrote on Twitter at the time.

However, what was not as widely noted, was the other fan sitting next to the 33-year-old actress throughout the game. Nathan Fielder, a Canadian comedian known for his Comedy Central show Nathan for You and his hit HBO comedic docuseries The Rehearsal, was also in the stands of Petco Park. Accompanied by the future co-star of his newest project The Curse, Fielder begrudgingly cheered on the Mets while looking as miserable as possible.

Although Fielder was in attendance and rooting for the Mets, this could not save the New York team from fielding the ball effectively. Thankfully for Emma and her husband, the San Diego Padres defeated the New York Mets in a whopping 6 – 0 victory.
