LeBron James Admits the Hardest Thing About Quarantine Has Been Not Seeing His Mom

While life inside the NBA bubble allows teams to continue their 2020 season, it also means that the people inside the bubble are missing those closest to them. In fact, the hardest part of quarantining in general for LA Lakers star LeBron James has been not seeing certain members of his family, particularly his mom.

While talking with reporters, James told them that he missed his mom the most during the quarantine. As it was the longest they have ever been apart.

“It was the first time in my life I had gone that long without seeing my mom,” James said. “I hadn’t seen my mom since All-Star Weekend and then I saw her three weeks before we had to report to our respective cities. That was extreme for me. Obviously you guys know my story coming from a single-parent household and being an only child. My mother was 16 when she had me.”

And it wasn’t for lack of trying to see her. As James continued, it was actually his mom who did want to get on a plane during a global pandemic.

“She was like, ‘I’m not leaving Akron. I’m not getting on the plane. You know, in due time.’ My mom kept me, she kept me sane because she said in due time, we’ll join back again so that’s the only thing that I really missed.”

How sweet is that? It just goes to show that no matter how old you are, no matter how much success, or fame, or money, or clout you may have, you will always need your mama. Because as LeBron James clearly points out, there is nothing quite like being comforted by the woman who gave you life you have now.
