Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has been the subject of controversy after he recently revealed his plan to un-retire. However, his most crazy endeavor was when he missed 11 days of team practicing.

He attributed his absence from training camp to “personal reasons” and even took to Twitter to deny rumors that were circling regarding his temporary leave. “Wasn’t on the Masked Singer last week. Was wearing a mask though,” the quarterback wrote on social media.

Earlier this month, the athlete discussed with social media outlets why exactly he was taking a leave of absence. Again denying rumors, he said he was not suffering from an injury nor did he have prior engagements, but he had to take a break from training camp due to “personal” reasons.

Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles discussed missing Brady on the field and that the two of them discussed the quarterback taking a vacation at the end of July.

“We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn’t going to play the first two games,” Bowles shared with PEOPLE.

“He didn’t want to take away reps from Blaine [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask] as well as Griff [Ryan Griffin] as far as going into these next two games,” he continued. “And it’s something he needs to handle.”

News outlets speculate what Tom Brady was doing during his 11-day absence

However, according to Pro Football Talk, Brady’s absence was attributed to vacationing alongside his wife  Gisele Bündchen at “an exclusive resort” in the Bahamas. “His commitment to family and having a personal life was at the heart of this hiatus from football, and there was no medical emergency, as speculated, or other reasons,” the website reads.

Yet, when Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show this week, his speculation about Brady’s absence was slightly different. “It’s not a vacation, let’s put it that way,” Stroud said.

“Was it necessary for him to be with his family? I think so. Did they have it planned before training camp? Yeah, they would have. But it wasn’t as if like, ‘Hey, I was out and we made these great family plans before school starts and we’re going to stay committed to that.’ I do think that at 45, having played 22 years, he knows what he has to do in training camp to get ready,” he continued, explaining his thoughts.
