Michael Strahan Surprised With AMAZING News From Teammates: His Iconic Jersey Is Being Retired on November 28th

Former New York Giants star athlete Michael Strahan just received a shocking surprise from his teammates on live television. Arriving in an unsuspecting box and wearing Strahan’s jersey, Eli Manning, Justin Tuck, and Jessie Armstead announced to the now television personality that his iconic No. 92 jersey would never be worn by another Giant. His reaction was priceless!

After his fellow hosts questioned if he knew what was going on after he noted that he didn’t get a cue card for this episode of Good Morning America, Strahan ecstatically claimed, “I realize what’s going on as they would never wear my jersey unless there was a reason that they didn’t love me that much.”

It was then confirmed that Strahan’s jersey would be retired on November 28th in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. As the Eagles are the declared rivals of the New York-based team, this retirement is all the more special. “I love how they did that. That’s probably the biggest rivalry we had and that’s special,” Strahan shared.

He also commented on his appreciation for the team for giving him a chance to be challenged. “A lot of respect for them, though. The reason I have success against them is because they challenge me to be the best player I could be.”

Michael Strahan says a jersey retirement is the ‘ultimate respect from your team’

“That is the ultimate respect from your team. You did so much in that number – not just on the field but in the community – that we want to honor you by making sure that the number is significant and attached to you and what you have done in New York,” the former Giant explained, talking on behalf of why this milestone is so impactful. He additionally added, “I am really stunned. I had no idea what was going on, so I am a little stunned. But I am thankful to have guys like this who have always been there for me.”

“It wouldn’t be possible without these three, they’re all very instrumental in my career… And I carried all three of these guys throughout their career,” the ex-defensive end player went on to say jokingly about his teammates. He also was in complete and utter shock that his teammates were able to keep the secret under wraps and even shared, “I just saw Jesse [Armstead] the other day and you didn’t say a word!”
