Patrick Mahomes Is Doing ‘Fine’, His Fiancé Brittany Matthews Says, After Having To Go Into Concussion Protocol

Patrick Mahomes took a hit in the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Browns that would require him to leave the field and enter concussion protocol in the fourth quarter of that game according to the NFL.

Chiefs fans have been wondering if their quarterback would be able to play on Sunday for a chance to get the team back to the Super Bowl.

Of course, you may know by now they have a reliable backup in Chad Henne, who helped seal the win for the Chiefs in a close game against the Browns.

But, to have your starting quarterback in a AFC Championship game against a good Bills defense (where cornerback Taron Johnson just so happened to pick off Lamar Jackson to run it the length of the field for a defensive touchdown in their last game), would be ideal.

“I’m fine, Patricks fine, thanks for all the prayers!” Matthews said in a Tweet. “WE STILL GOT A GAME TO WIN LETS GOOOOOO!!!”

According to the NFL, the “Chiefs quarterback told reporters he’s out of concussion protocol ahead of the AFC Championship Game versus the Buffalo Bills”.

“I’ll be able to go out there and be myself,” Mahomes said, via Nate Taylor of The Athletic per the NFL.

Matthews has been anticipating the big game, retweeted these tweets:

And Mahomes posted this on Instagram on Saturday, seemingly ready for the AFC Championship:
