What is the one thing you would never expect to come across when riding a scooter down an urban sidewalk? If you’re thinking a mama bear and her cub, well then pick something else, because that’s exactly what happened to safety for the Dallas Cowboys, Haha Clinton-Dix.
Earlier this week, Clinton-Dix took to Instagram to share security cam footage of the scary and then later hilarious ordeal. As the video shows, the football player was minding his own business, scooting down the sidewalk, when he gets within inches of a mama bear and cub, who seemingly appear out of nowhere.

And when Clinton-Dix realizes what he’s seeing, he quickly lets go of his scooter, which scares the bears, and runs in the other direction, looking back to see if it was all true. It was.
“I play [defense], gotta be ready to go,” the athlete joked on Instagram. “A lil high on my flip turn but the drive was there. I ain’t know how many was over there.”
He then included the hashtag, “I’m good.” And several of his colleagues had a good laugh at his expense. Stefon Diggs wrote, “Boy tried to ghost ride the scooter into em.” And Shaun Dion Hamilton wrote, “Shid, I hope the scooter had insurance on that.”
Kevin Byard admitted that he would have reacted the same way. “My soul would’ve left my body,” Byard wrote alongside three laughing emojis. “Thank god mama bear wasn’t ready sheesh!” CJ Mosley added.
It’s unclear where Clinton-Dix was going that night, what he was carrying, or if he got his goods and his scooter back. Thankfully, the safety appears to be unharmed and in good spirits after the getting what could easily be described as the surprise of his life that night.
