Lawrence and Andrea Guy’s Beautiful 2nd Annual Baby Shower Was Inspired by a Stranger

New England Patriots defensive end Lawrence Guy and his wife Andrea are making it a mission for soon-to-be mothers on the East coast to have a solid support system.

As a part of the Guy Family Foundation, the charity organization hosted its second annual baby shower at Gillette Stadium. The New England couple designed the shower in order for single mothers (or expecting mothers) to have access to essential resources.

“Motherhood is a big job. It’s a big responsibility. I have my husband, my family, and I’m always surrounded by such a supportive tribe of women,” Andre said in a speech during the event, explaining her motivations for funding such an important cause. “It made me think of all the mothers that are going through labor by themselves, having their children alone with no support system.”

“Single mothers are probably the most powerful women to me because they’re bringing a life into this world by themselves. It means a lot. Having all these volunteers is so special,” she continued. “I hope these women see this beautiful shower, forget all their problems, and feel that they’re secure with the items they have for their children.”

Andrea and Lawrence Guy explain the importance of the single mothers’ baby shower

For Andrea, this cause is extremely important to her. The idea of hosting a baby shower for single mothers was thought of by Andrea Guy while she was giving birth to her third child.

During her complicated birthing story, the NFL wife met another woman in the hospital who was also giving birth but did not have anyone show up and support her through the process. Working with the hospital, the Guy family reached out to the woman and ensured she had all the resources necessary so that her child could grow up with ease.

“She doesn’t know who we are. I still send stuff. Her son and my daughter have the same birthday, so I always dedicate the shower to her. Maybe one day I’ll tell her what she did for my life,” Andrea relayed.

Lawrence Guy also discussed his involvement with the shower, pointing out the items that are provided by his and his wife’s foundation. “These are the items we use in our household,” Lawrence explained. “This is what I used for my children. We wanted to make sure they had the same opportunity that we had to bring our children into the world with these beautiful items.”
