Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets was arrested and booked by the Los Angeles Police Department for a felony domestic violence warrant.
“The Charlotte Hornets are aware of the situation involving Miles Bridges,” the team confirmed in a statement, according to ESPN. “We are in the process of gathering additional information. We will have no further comment at this time.”
The LAPD had little to say about the basketball player’s arrest, however, they shared that the athlete was released on a $130,000 bond. In a police report obtained by media outlets, the 24-year-old turned himself in after allegedly engaging in an altercation with a woman. He is set to appear in court on July 20th, 2022.

Following the arrest, his wife Mychelle Johnson issued a statement that went into extreme detail about the physical abuse she endured. Although she did not name her husband explicitly, it is assumed that the man she refers to in the post is Bridges.
“I hate that it has come to this but I can’t be silent anymore. I’ve allowed someone to destroy my home, abuse me in every way possible and traumatize our kids for life,” Mychelle wrote.
“I don’t need sympathy, I just don’t want this happening to anyone else, I just want this person to get help, my kids deserve better. That’s all I want. It hurts, everything hurts, this situation hurts, most importantly I’m scared and hurting for my kids who were witness to everything.”
She concluded the post with the sentiments, “Please respect my family’s privacy and stop with the disgusting rumors and allegations.”
Following the photographs being posted, countless fans lent support to both Mychelle and her children.
The NBA is yet to address the alleged crimes of Bridges but did remind fans of its policy on domestic violence. “The Commissioner may fine, suspend, or dismiss and disqualify from any further association with the NBA and its teams a player who engages in prohibited conduct in violation of this Policy,” the organization said in a statement. “Repeat offenders will be subject to enhanced discipline.”
At the same time as the domestic violence incident, the basketball player was released as a free agent. However, Charlotte has communicated that they are still willing to keep him as a player. “As an organization, we love Miles,” Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak reported last week. We are going to bring him back. He has been great for the franchise, and I believe, with his work ethic, he’s only going to get better.”
