The Chicago Bears announced on Monday that Nick Foles would replace Mitch Trubisky as the Bears’ starting quarterback. The Bears were down 10-26 with about 25 minutes remaining in the game against the Atlanta Falcons. After Foles entered the game, the Bears came back to beat the Falcons 30-26.

The Bears finished third in the NFC North last year with a record of 8-8. After Trubisky vastly underperformed in the 2019 season, Chicago signed the Super Bowl LII MVP this offseason to a three $24 million contract.

With the signing of Foles, many questioned whether or not he would get the starting job in 2020.

Last year, Trubisky had 3,138 passing yards with a completion percentage of 63.2% as well as 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Foles only played four games last year which he played with the Jacksonville Jaguars. While his stats were quite unimpressive in 2019, Foles had a season in 2018 that Eagles fans won’t soon forget.

In the Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl-winning season, Foles had 1,413 yards, a completion percentage of 72.3%, 7 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in his five regular-season games with the team after Carson Wentz went down with an injury.

So far this season, Trubisky has 560 yards, a completion percentage of 59.3%, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions; however, the combined record of the three teams the Bears have faced is 1-8. In Sunday’s win, Foles went 16 for 29 with 188 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

With Trubisky’s mediocre numbers against some of the worst teams in the league, it was time for the Bears to give Foles a chance. The Bears aren’t going to go far in this league with Trubisky at the helm, so with Foles at quarterback and a 3-0 record, things are looking up for the Chicago Bears.
