The Rock Reveals His Whole Family Has Tested Positive for COVID-19

“My message to all of you around the [world].” That’s how Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson began his Instagram post in which he revealed that the majority of his family has tested positive for COVID-19.

Along with an 11-minute video updating his fans on what has been going on in his life, Johnson revealed that his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters, 4-year-old Jasmine and 2-year-old Tia, have all tested positive for COVID-19. “And I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me personally as well.”

Johnson went on to explain that testing positive for COVID-19 has been more difficult that any injury he’s overcome or the moments when he was evicted from apartments because he was broke. This particular moment in his life has been most difficult because his number one priority as a man, as a father, as a husband, has always been to protect his family.

“I wish it were just me who tested positive but it wasn’t, it was my entire family, so this was a real kick in the gut,” Johnson continued, before revealing that after battling the virus for the last two to three weeks, he and his family are now “good.”

“We are on the other end of it, we are on the other side. We are no longer contagious and we are, thank God, we are healthy. And we have gotten through COVID-19 stronger and healthier. […] We are counting our blessings right now because we are well aware it isn’t always the case.”

The new owner of the XFL called COVID-19 unrelenting and insidious after talking about all of the friends he knows who have lost loved ones as a result of the novel coronavirus. As The Rock continued, he explained that while Jasmine and Tia dealt a little bit with sore throats, the virus hardly affected them at all.

One year ago today, on August 18, 2019 – I had the honor of marrying @laurenhashianofficial. Later that night she surprised me with this beautiful song, “Step Into A Love Like This” that she wrote and sang herself in honor of our marriage. From the moment I heard the song’s opening line, of “…every angel in heaven is singing for us today…” as tribute to our loved ones who’ve passed away and no longer with us – I got very emotional. As I still get emotional today when I hear those words and watch this wedding footage. Lauren is a gifted and soulful songwriter who wrote every single word of this song (and her vows) to reflect our life and blessings on our wedding day. I’m not a writer, so all I can do is speak from my heart and gut — and other than my three daughters being born — this is the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Bottom line, I’m a lucky and grateful husband, father and man to have such an amazing woman by my side through this unpredictable, yet beautiful thing we call life. Special shout to my extremely loving daughters, Jazzy and Tia for accompanying daddy as I got down on my knee to do the honors of asking for Lauren’s hand in marriage. Technically, she never said, “YES!” as she just bursted out laughing and then ugly crying, BUT I’ll take that response on the Hawaiian cliffs any day 😉💍 We hope that you all enjoy “Step Into A Love Like This” and our wedding day moments – as much as we are privileged to share it with you all on our anniversary. With love, gratitude and mana – DJ 🖤 Listen to the song now in my bio or on all music platforms. #StepIntoALoveLikeThis #HappyAnniversary ❤️🥃 And fa’afetai lava to my uso @f1j1 (one of the greatest singers on the planet) for his beautiful Samoan song “Tualaga a Solomona” that I chose to play as I walked down the aisle.

It was a different story from him and Lauren, however, who “had a rough go for a little while,” he said. The actor also assured his fans that they did the right thing and isolated themselves until they were no longer contagious.

In retrospect, Johnson says his family contracted COVID-19 from very close family friends, who have no idea where they contracted it. As a result, he is now telling others that while he and his family have been disciplined when it comes to safety precautions put in place, he would encourage people to be even more disciplined even around those they love, even if they have been safe as well.
