What Christmas Was Like For Peyton Manning And The Manning Household Growing Up: ‘Shockingly, A Lot Of Sports Involved Around Christmas Time’
‘Tis the season. When families and loved ones gather around the campfire, sing Christmas carols, have festive meals over the table, and celebrate together. Ever wonder what Christmas was like at the Manning household?
Well, Peyton Manning can tell you. Manning recently talked about his childhood Christmas memories on Live With Kelly & Ryan.
“Shockingly, a lot of sports involved around Christmas time,” Manning said.
That’s fitting, considering you had three Pro Bowl quarterbacks and two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in one household. Of course, Peyton and Eli would both grow up to be in the Pro Bowl multiple times and win a combined four Super Bowls. Their dad, Archie, was a two-time Pro Bowler.
With all that football under one roof and future NFL quarterback potential, what were the types of gifts the Manning kids got? Take a wild guess.
“Christmas gifts usually involved some type of new football uniform, a jersey, a helmet,” Peyton said.
And it wasn’t just gifts. Consider Christmas time for the Manning’s a time to open gifts, celebrate, and play some football.
“Always an afternoon football game, my dad was great with the video camera filming the whole movies,” Peyton said.
Fast forward that real-life movie to today. Where Peyton talks about what his kids are asking for Christmas in 2020.
“Shockingly, also my son has gotten into the football jerseys and that’s kind of what’s on his Christmas list,” Manning said. “My daughter’s into the fashion so that’s what I’ve been dealing with, as far as Christmas shopping.”
Also, shout out to this picture. If the Manning’s were to enter a Christmas sweater contest, they could win it, which would add yet another trophy to the Manning family:
